ABOUT
1975 – 2025
Reading In Bloom is delighted to announce the launch of the 2025 local competition. This year is a very special year for Reading in Bloom as we are celebrating our 50th Anniversary, 1975-2025. This anniversary gives us the opportunity to celebrate the Town’s success over the past 50 years and to look at the regional awards in which Reading performed so well.
Reading was awarded a prestigious Gold Award in the 2019 Royal Horticultural Society’s (RHS) 55th annual Britain in Bloom community gardening competition.
The judges visited the town and were impressed with the work that had been carried out to “unite communities, volunteers and gardeners.”
Our local in Bloom competition takes place across the Borough of Reading and covers many categories, ranging from residential, allotments, schools and community gardens to name but a few. This competition offers a unique opportunity for all entrants to showcase their gardening skills whilst supporting the importance of our environment and eco system.
We have a very hard working committee, who give their time and commitment to Reading In Bloom voluntarily, however, a competition is not a competition without the entrants who take part. During the Summer our committee members will be out and about, judging all of the competition entries. This will result in a prestigious award ceremony that will take place at the Hilton Reading Hotel, during the month of October. This award ceremony pays tribute and gives recognition to all of those entrants who have been successful.

In order for us to carry out a successful competition, we rely solely on the generosity and the goodwill of those who are kind enough to sponsor us. On behalf of Reading In Bloom, I thank all sponsors for their support.
We believe Reading in Bloom brings the community together and showcases all of what Reading has to offer. So to all those who take the time to enter the competition, we thank you for your participation over the last 50 Years and for the future years to come. We look forward to receiving your entries for this year’s local competition and wish you all the very best of luck.
